For unit 18, we had been asked to create 5 icons for the Apple iPhone. These icons had to be based on 5 different themes, being war, horror, sci-fi, fantasy and comedy. Part of the unit involved comparing other touch screens phones to the iPhone. Through this, it showed me how other touch screen phones have their own idea of digital icons. To get ideas for my icons, I made concept sheets for each theme which consisted of for sketches relating to the theme, for each of the sketches I wrote a bit, explaining the icon and why they have been drawn. After I had decided which icons I thought were best for each theme, I, on a A3 sheet of paper, drew out the final 5 icons with more detail and colour. These designs were then scanned on to Photoshop, where they were edited to look more digitaly created.I think that the final product met my original intention and what was asked to do. I created the icons for the 5 themes and put them on the iPhone. If there was more time in the unit, I would have used the time to create a Flash animation to show how the icons operate.
